As we previously reported, the Smoking Gun published an article about a month ago that claimed Akon maunfactured most of his criminal past, including being the ringleader of a "notorious" car-theft ring, plus they said he didn't spend four and a half years in prison, as he has said. The Smoking Gun said that Akon spent only a few months in an Atlanta jail for stealing a single car, according to police, court and corrections records.
Akon is now responding to these statements and talking about how the report has changed his rep. "It's an article," he said. "Everyone's entitled to their own opinions and views. At the end of the day, the Konvict movement is keeping me out of jail. It's nothing I want to glorify or go back to. Honestly, I'm glad something like that came out, because it opens the minds of other people who're thinking positive."
Today it was announced that Young Jeezy has been ranked as the 8th hottest rapper in the game by MTV. The Atlanta rapper did not release an album since last years Hottest MC's ranking show but his guest appearances and star appeal pushed him onto the list.
Kanye West talked about Jeezy saying "When I say good rap voice, that's Jeezy. ... When he hears the track, his voice is so signature, he can just say whatever he wants. But then he don't even just say what he wants. He was one of the people post-Andre 3000 to gain that respect for the South lyrically — Wayne, T.I. and Jeezy — post-Scarface and 3000 and Trick Daddy, that era of rappers. Me and Jeezy are the exact same artist except from a different place. I'm inspirational, he's motivational. The lyrics push you to do something in a way. My thing is maybe there is some hope, maybe there's some light at the end of the tunnel. 'Keep your head to the sky' type sh--. His thing is, if there ain't no light at the end of the tunnel, dig your way through it. Get up and do something about it."
It was previously reported that T.I. was ranked #10 and Andre 3000 of Outkast was given the number 9 spot. Make sure you check out the rest of the list on “Hottest MCs In The Game” which airs today at 10pm on MTV.
